Fantasy Core RPG: Undead and Demonically Possessed Creatures

[I’m not doing a “Monster Manual” for Fantasy Core.  There’s already several monster lists out there, and I’ve already posted plenty of common monsters with the various adventure settings.  This short list will be the truly dangerous creatures, ones that were human but became monsters.  These would “interesting” NPC’s worthy of a campaign to deal with.  This is the second go-round for this material.  I don’t think I did it justice the first time, so hopefully this will be more worthy.]

Permanent Demonic Pacts
The forces of evil and chaos are overwhelmingly powerful and numerous.  Only two elements keep them from subjugating all in this dimension.  One, they cannot enter this world on their own; they must be summoned.  Two, and more problematical, they cannot exist naked in this world for more than a day.  In fact, the more powerful entities can’t even manifest for more than minutes before being pulled back to their own plane.

There are two ways around this restriction.  The summoned entity must live within or be anchored to an arcane cage of sorts.  This sort of restricted environment is suitable for a guardian or a “pet” assassin demon.  To have free range though, they must enter into a host form, be it living and willing or a dead corpse.  The weakest, most mindlessly violent sort of demons will enter into a dead host as an undead monster, taking any option to even momentarily escape their cruel overlords.

More truly dangerous are spellcasters who act as willing host bodies for demonic forces.  The ceremonies for becoming such monsters are highly forbidden, putting the practitioners directly in the Wizard Council and Paladins’ crosshairs.  Whatever their motivations for such reckless behavior, their new personality is that of an enemy to all humanity.
