Fantasy Core RPG--Title Level Advancement
FANTASY CORE RPG

Introduction:
So your character has hit 10th level. Now what? My first suggestion would be to retire the character and allow them to used as an NPC. Then roll up a new character for a new campaign. Next suggestion, come up with a whole new rules set that allows your character to ascend to a demi-god superhero status and then go off and fight elder gods on their native planes. (Don't wait for me to come up with those rules, but it's an interesting idea.)
Then we're left with this option: Title Level. Your character has essentially max-ed out in a martial sense, now you're going to enter the political power structure of the campaign world. Your character no longer accumulates levels or hp, but instead, specific skills to increase influence and peer status. Fighting will tend to be single-combat or duel oriented (even fending off assassinations) and the occasional adventure.
How does one run a campaign of courtly intrigue? Well, start by reading here. Then, maybe read up on some old Vampire: The Masquerade games. Where it says, "Suck blood," substitute, "Draw swords." I don't pretend to have any practical knowledge about this. This is just a light framework, which others are going to have to fill in.
Title Level Advancement:
Characters of 10th level may seek to enter the political structure of their class. This is a completely optional on the part of the player and the Ref. Please don't make the characters go through some tedious process of being a count, then a viscount, etc. It's a game, not an historical simulation.
In order to enter, the character will require a patron who is already within the power structure, and will need to actually somewhat settle down in the area. They do not have to end all adventuring, as they will not be building castles and such at first. There will be an initiation, perhaps formal, or merely requiring wealth, land, certain deeds, the right friends, etc. in order to be considered. This may not be an instant event. The character may endure a lot of snubbing and some hazing before being accepted by most (and some will certainly never accept them).
