This magazine is one of three Elvis items I was keeping for myself. (I'm keeping the Elvis NASCAR and another book as well.) I really like this memorial magazine. A lot of the pictures are kind of rare and cool. The text assumes a more-than-casual knowledge of Elvis' life and pulls no punches in the commentary. It's quite interesting. If you're a fan, this would be a good magazine to pick up off of Ebay.
Here's a young, casual Elvis playing a platter of 45's.
A classic montage of Elvis performing.
A cool behind the scenes pics. The band drove a bunch to get to gigs in the early days. Elvis took his turn at the wheel putting his previous truck driving career to good use. He got funny about flying after hitting it big and took a lot of train trips. Later, he got over it and bought his own planes to travel.
Sofia Loren attacked Elvis like a groupie when they met. Elvis didn't seem to mind.
Elvis' albums. The
Moody Blue album at the end was pressed on blue vinyl.
Lobby cards from Elvis' movies (except for the two concert films).
