Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 12

Okay, I didn't expect my posting streak to be broken by Google flagging last Thursday's post as "spam."  I admit these postcard posts are low-effort, but is name-calling really necessary?   

Anyway, here's the emergency replacement from what I had available.  This post was also flagged, which led to the pumpkin coloring page.  I'm still trying to get more scans and sports reports and a comic review ready.  

These are couple of vintage photo postcards.  The first one here is from 1910.

This one comes from 1939.

These cards feature some lovely paintings.

Landing of Oglethorpe, Georgia, 1733.  This commemorates the founding of the Georgia colony.  

America the Beautiful watercolor.  Sort of Peter Max inspired.     

Ark and Dove, Maryland. 1634.  These ships founded the Maryland colony.

George Rogers Clark, Vincennes, 1779.  Clark led an expedition against a British fort in Illinois during the Revolutionary War.  Great postmark on the card.

Here's a picture I colored for contest where I work.  I ironically lost to a girl, who colored the same picture, using markers that I had actually bought for her.  That said, she better a job than I did.

  

Postcards From the Edge: Plain Postcards 1

These cards are, as the name implies, plain.  (I've got plenty more colorful postcards, but I don't have them scanned yet.)  In any case, I thought the postage was interesting.  This starts off with some Patriot postage.

 

Robert Morris was the "financier of the Revolution."

Charles Carroll was a signer on the Declaration of Independence and the only Catholic among the signers.

John Hancock was the most famous signer.  He did his signature large enough so  that "King George III could see it."  Keep in mind, signing the Declaration would have been a death sentence had the war gone the other way.

Samuel Adams was an important "political philosopher" and laid the groundwork for the Revolution.  (Yes, I'm going to Wikipedia for all of this.)

George Wythe was a signer of the Declaration and a member of the Continental Congress.
