The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 8

 Article about an Elvis impersonator.

Brief travel guide to Graceland.

A Nixon/Elvis movie gets a poor review.  Meanwhile, Elvis gets on the Internet, including AOL.

Here's an Arkansas sports report.  The reporter visited Graceland while at a convention.

According to the article, Elvis committed suicide because of a cancer diagnosis.

The guy running the Graceland estate apologized to Elvis fans for cooperating with the mini-series based on Priscilla's book.

Tony Roi isn't Elvis' son, but he is a talented Elvis impersonator.  My aunt saw his act and loved it.

Now it's just getting weird and uncomfortable.

I'm not seeing the resemblance between this Elvis girlfriend and his mom.

The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 7

These newspaper tabloids love the King.

Grizzard talks about trying to imitate Elvis' look when he was a kid.

An El Paso commentator writes about Elvis.  First, he compares his own life to the King.  Then, he postulates that Jim Paul is actually Elvis.  Paul was the owner of the El Paso Diablos Double A team.  He was one of the most innovative minor league owners ever.  Most of the fun stuff you see and get at games today, beyond the games themselves, he pioneered.  Paul had to do whatever it took to get people to Dudley Field, which was a dump in a poor part of town.

Big Elvis article in an Arkansas newspaper.

I think this commentary was written about the Y2K crisis.  It all seems so quaint now.

The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 6

More Elvis love from a newspaper tabloid.

Impressive doll.  I got a bigger picture in a future post.

Man, those VHS tapes were expensive back in the day.

A couple of scandal pages from The Star.

The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 5

More from USA Today about Elvis.

Cybill Shepherd is featured prominently here.  The 80's were awesome.  She was a former girlfriend of Elvis.

A somewhat nauseating overview of Elvis' eating habits.

Newspaper tabloid story about Priscilla.  She looked good here.

Another article about Graceland.

The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 4

You're going to be seeing more of this storyline in posts.

Commentary on the Is Elvis Alive? story.

Newspaper insert about Graceland.  These newspaper tabloids loved Elvis.

USA Today article on Graceland.

Another USA Today article.

And this . . . apparently has nothing to do with Elvis.  Enjoy.

The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 3

Two more pages from the National Enquirer.  I should have broken this up better.

Grandma must have sent this from Green Forrest.

I remember seeing some of this series.  I thought mom had it on a VCR tape, but I couldn't find it.  The series is up on Youtube if you search for Elvis TV show.

An 18 year old Elvis impersonator in El Paso.

More on impersonators.

The Elvis Collection: Newspaper Clips 2

These pages aren't breaking up well.  This continues the previous insert from The Star.  I kind of wanted to start off this post with this excellent original art.

Get your Elvis 8-tracks here.

This isn't Elvis related, but in the tabloid.  It's an embarrassing puff piece on Ted Kennedy put here for historical value.  There's also a heart-warming dog story at the bottom.

What an outfit!

If The Star was too high-brow for you, here's the National Enquirer's coverage.

I think publishing that coffin picture got them in trouble.

Win the King's last ring!  That is not the most flattering picture of Elvis there.  It's like Elvis after he came out of the coffin as a zombie.
