After buying this series of books, mom took to putting
some other Bicentennial items she collected at the time in them. I found these items pressed between the pages
of some of the volumes.
First up is an eye-catching Bicentennial envelope.
Here are a couple of trading cards. These were probably inserts with loaves of
Wonder Bread.
These articles are from the Las Cruces Sun-News. Dr. Tombaugh was local celebrity here in Las
Cruces discovering Pluto, the PLANET!
Space exploration was still an ongoing effort in
1976. The Viking probe landed on Mars.
Mom was still inserting articles years later. She put in an article from 2005 about the
then current space program.
