Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 42

Keystone's North Peak, Summit, Colorado.  Aunt Judy and her family went skiing here.  "No broken bones."

White House Ruin, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Chinle, Arizona.  The back says this was an Anaszi dwelling with white plastered walls.

Banta's House of Apples.  "Home of Arkansas' Patented Apple, The Quindell.  Finest Home-Made Pie."  Sounds delightful.

Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 41

Pretty Christmas postcard.

Baltimore, Maryland.  The writer stayed at the hotel in the center with the "x" over it.  He had a dinner  of raviolis in Little Italy (Jimmy Carter ate there once) and wants to see the Faberge Egg at the art museum.

Another postcard from Baltimore.  This picture was taken during the Fourth of July.  The writer saw a big aquarium and a submarine and had a dinner cruise in the bay.

Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 40

Outdoor cafĂ© at Rockefeller Center, New York City.  The plaza features the flags of the UN and a statue of Prometheus.

Postcard from Phoenix, Arizona.  Unfortunately, I can't date it.

Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado.  The Cliff Palace.  Mom must have liked the stamp and snipped it.

Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 39

Ouray, Colorado.  Looks very scenic . . . in the summer time.  In winter, the whole thing is probably buried.

Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado.  This is the Long House.

Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico.  This is the Bat Flight Amphitheater.  Unfortunately, the bats weren't there when we were there according to the postcard.  However, my friend, Mike, was there and saw the bats.  The bats come out at twilight and the Rangers warn visitors not to photograph or film the bats as the lights will disturb them.  Visitors will ignore this, photo lights go off, the bats scatter, and the Rangers will yell at the visitors.

Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 38

Bella Vista, Arkansas.  This is a retirement community.  Next to the "X" on the card there's a near-invisible note that says, "We are here."

Taos Pueblo, New Mexico.  Mom found it "disappointing."  I got a watch during the trip.  (I wonder if that was my old Snoopy watch?)  Mom wrote, "(Yes, he can tell time,  Ha.)"  I'm not sure how I feel about that "Ha" at the end.

Eisenhower's Farm at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  Very pastoral.

Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 37

The Hyatt Regency, Nashville, Tennessee.  Very nice.

Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona.  Yes, those are giant petrified logs.

Santa's Workshop, North Pole, Colorado.  It's a small theme park.  You have to love that postmark.  I apparently sent this card to the grandparents with some help.

Postcards From the Edge: Mom's Family Cards 36

Daytona Beach, Florida.  Wow, this is vintage mid-60's.

Pass-A-Grille Beach, Florida.  A different beach that's a lot less crowded.  This one's from the 80's.

All of the tourist spots in Washington, DC.  This one is from dad's parents from a vacation.
