I've finally got more scans.  I finished scanning the rest of the scrapbook.  I should have scanned everything in order to begin with.  

This batch is mostly movie theater showings from the newspaper.

The Elvis Collection: Comic Book

I forgot that I had another Elvis post in November.  This one was review of the Elvis biography comic book trade paperback.  I found the original comic book that I gave mom years ago.  I might have given it a bit of a short shrift, but I was reviewing some other comics in the post.  The original comic was easier to scan than the trade.

This issue mostly featured Elvis in the Army.

This is some commentary on the issue and a reader letter.

Here's how Elvis lived while deployed in Germany.  Any soldier with the means was allowed to live off base by the way.

This is him meeting Priscilla.

Even dating one of the most famous people in the world, dad was a bit concerned with his underaged daughter being with an adult soldier.

Can you believe Rock & Roll was in danger of dying while Elvis was in the Army?  Actually, it was just pausing while the youngsters inspired by the original wave came of age to start their own bands.

I'm still working on more scrapbook pics.  Here are a few magazines that were in the collection.  The articles in these weren't worth scanning.

The article inside was about various deceased iconic celebrities.

I think dad brought these People magazines home from work for mom.  I thought they would be more nostalgic being from the 80's, but they were really mundane, even the ads.  There were a few other issues mixed in that probably featured other celebrities that mom liked, because I couldn't find any Elvis material in them.

Putting Elvis anywhere on the cover was a selling point even ten years after his death.  If you're wondering, in the Mark Hamill interview, he was looking forward to finishing Return of the Jedi and moving on with his acting career.  They mention he was a comic book geek, which might have led him to being the Joker in the Batman Animated Series.    

 

The Elvis Collection: Postcards and Stamps

Still working on more scrapbook pictures.  Here are a couple of postcards that were in mom's collection.  I've already posted a few postcards from Graceland.  These two were loose in the tub with the rest of the artifacts.  The first one is an actual postcard.  The second one has the singles list on the back of it.  I think these may have inserts with an album.   

Of course mom had the official Elvis stamp.  However, those were probably in her large stamp collection, so I don't have a scan of one.  These two sheets of album covers were in the Elvis collection.  They're not good for postage, but they are actual stamps and very cool.

The Elvis Collection: Sheet Music

Oops.  I fell behind on scanning from the scrapbooks, so I'll have to go to something different.  My mom played piano and had some Elvis sheet music.  I'm just posting the covers here. 

This songbook came with a poster.  I'll see if I can get a picture of it somehow.
