In Montana's comic strips, Veronica and Betty aren't exactly friends. Veronica doesn't even see Betty as a real rival for Archie, which she isn't, because Archie is all in on Veronica. For her part, Veronica is pretty much stringing Archie along, but she gives him enough to keep him interested. There's a couple of panels of her laying a smacker on Archie that can easily take the breath away of even the reader.
